Quaye Botchway
Quaye holds responsibility, along with the Programmes & Partnership Director, for the coordination of research as well as supporting the Black Thrive Research Institute and Observatory.
The associated research projects will be multiple and varied in scope, with some being delivered over relatively short periods (of 8 to 12 weeks) and others lasting for much longer periods.

Quay's Background
Quaye trained as a Town Planner with specialist knowledge in local economic development. He is affiliated with a number of universities, including; Coventry University, The University of Manchester and Cranfield University where he studied for his BA Hons DipTP, MSc and PhD respectively. Other Universities include; De Montfort, and Wolverhampton where he’s actively involved in research and teaching.
Quaye is a strategic thinker with a passion for ensuring that high quality research makes a difference to organisations, individuals and society at large. He is also a community and business leader with a track record
of supporting and developing the capacity of local groups to thrive and undertake economic
development and research activities.
He is currently a patron and Board member for a number of community based and not-for-profit
organisations in the Midlands. These include Pearls Women’s Group, Ghanaian Social Workers Associations Midlands (GHASWA), and Allies Network, all in Birmingham. Also, he is Chair of the Birmingham
based African Business Chamber.
Until few years ago, he was Chair of the Birmingham Commonwealth Association Communities Group;
President of the Ghana Union Greater Birmingham, and Chair and founding member of the
Ghana Union Midlands. In 2015 he received the Coventry University Black History Month Award for
Impact on Black Minority Ethnic Communities.
Community programmes involvement
Led the formation and registration of a regional umbrella network of Ghanaian groups in
the Midlands (Ghana Union Midlands) - 2010
Led the celebrations of Ghana’s independence and republic anniversaries in the Midlands from 2010 to 2023, and the Ghana Union Midlands celebration of Black History Month in Birmingham to acknowledge contributions and achievements of noble Black Britons of African origin, of past and present, to British society in 2015.
Trustee, Patron and Board member for a number of community based and not-for-profit organisations in the United Kingdom. These include Ghana Union Midlands, Pearls Women’s Group, Ghanaian Social Workers Associations Midlands and Allies Network
