Rodas' Background
Rodas is a researcher and programmes-focused practitioner dedicated to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for African and Caribbean communities in the UK. With a multidisciplinary background spanning International Development, Science, Technology Studies, and Microbiology, she brings a strong evidence-based approach to understanding health inequalities, community experiences, and barriers to accessing support.
Her work is rooted in collaboration, relationship-building, and the co-creation of solutions that reflect
the lived realities of the communities served.
Through her professional and academic roles, Rodas has developed substantial experience conducting qualitative research, analysing thematic data, and engaging a wide range of stakeholders including policymakers, clinicians, grassroots organisations, and community members. She has contributed to published research, delivered progress reports for cross-sector projects, and supported public engagement activities that translate
knowledge into meaningful action.
Rodas also founded and leads the Black PGR Network, which has grown into a thriving community of over 50 postgraduate researchers. This initiative reflects her commitment to capacity building, empowerment, and creating safe, supportive spaces for under-represented groups.
In all her work, Rodas prioritises culturally responsive practice, trust-building, and equitable partnerships, together with strong analytical skills, programme coordination experience, and a deep commitment to addressing racialised disparities in health and wellbeing, particularly within African and Caribbean communities.
