A new purpose-designed centre which will give mental health support has been launched in Birmingham. In early 2025, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) were handed the keys to the Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre on Golden Hillock Road.

The move to the former Ghamkol Sharif Education Centre marks a new chapter for the service, enabling it to leave its temporary base at Omnia GP Practice. More than 1,000 adults have accessed services and support since it opened in early 2025.

The new centre will see psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, peer support workers and community partners provide immediate mental health support to adults across Small Heath, Heartlands and Bordesley Green.

The service offers crisis support, short-stay beds and outreach services in the community, ensuring adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties can access safe, person-centred support whenever they need it.

There are six bedrooms, a kitchen, a comfortable lounge and dining area, a meditation/prayer room and reception – all fully accessible and designed to support a range of needs.

The centre works with 13 voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations to deliver it’s range of support.
