Catalyst launches West Midlands-wide Support-Connect helpline

Catalyst 4 Change (in partnership with four West Midlands African & Caribbean mental health service providers), has launched the SUPPORT-CONNECT helpline service on 21 December 2020. This new regional initiative is funded by the Coronavirus Community Support Fund (distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund), and also by The Heart of England Community Foundation.
SUPPORT-CONNECT
is a new freephone helpline service available to African and Caribbean people with mental health support needs living in any of the areas listed below, across the West Midlands area. Download Leaflet.
The service has been developed to offer support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Calls to the helplines are completely free of charge. SUPPORT-CONNECT treats all calls confidentially.

SUPPORT-CONNECT is a partnership between Catalyst 4 Change, the African Caribbean Community Initiative; CommonUnity; Sandwell African & Caribbean Mental Health Foundation and the Tamarind Centre.
The SUPPORT-CONNECT service will be in place for at least 12 months (from December 2020), but all of the partners are committed to work together to secure further funding so that this helpline service can be provided indefinitely.

In October Catalyst 4 Change celebrated a dual anniversary – its 10th year of driving change and its 5th as a Black Thrive partner. This wasn't just an event; it was a powerful assembly.
We are proud to share that Black Thrive Global has been awarded £5 million from The National Lottery Fund to deliver a five-year programme: Thriving Futures - Scaling Systems Change.
This funding will be instrumental in supporting our ongoing work with African and Caribbean men and women from Birmingham and Solihull who have lived experience of mental health.
Part of a recent Lottery grant will support the Therapy Care Initiative Pilot, a 1-year programme that will identify up to 10 recently bereaved UK families that require therapeutic support.
